Hi, this is homcorn from ITLover0. Today is about the Razer Nari Essential review. Before I go into the review, some people might not know Razer (I mean most people who play games would but just in case somebody doesn’t know). To let those people know, Razer is a gaming equipment brand like Logitech. It makes keyboards, headsets, gaming mice, gaming mousepads, gaming slippers(?), gaming straw(?), gaming carpet(?), and other kinds of gaming products.
Specs
Before I jump right into the review, we should know the specs of this headset first hand. It has a frequency response of 20Hz – 20kHz, impedance of 32Ω, sensitivity of 107 ± 3db(1kHz), and 40mm size of driver. https://www.razer.com/gaming-headsets/razer-nari-essential/RZ04-02690100-R3U1 is the link to the headset. To be honest, I know almost nothing about headset specs so if you are like me, then just follow me right into the review
Let’s go right into the Razer Nari Essential review now.
Benefits / Good parts
Let’s review the benefits / good parts first.
Sound quality
First is the sound quality. To be honest, I’m not an expert on music and sounds so I don’t know very well but I felt that the sound was pretty clear. The sound quality is not good like airpods or other good earbuds or headsets but the sound is pretty detailed. I could hear the beat and it didn’t really feel like the sound was crowded. The sound felt enough for a gaming headset.
It also had surround sound which really helped when you played games. Let’s take Dead by daylight for example. When I used the Nari Essential, I didn’t have to worry about not hearing where the survivors are hidden when playing the killer. The surround sound was really clear and I knew right away where they were.
External features
Second is the external features of the headset. The headset has a thick cushion which is really comfortable when you put it on. This cushion is going to be especially beneficial for people who play games for a long time. The cushions might be tight to some people but that depends on the size of that person’s head so keep that in mind. The good thing is that the earcups and the speaker itself is really big and fits around the wearer’s ears perfectly. I personally have a big ear so it is really hard to find a headset that doesn’t hurt the edge of my ears when put on but this headset doesn’t. It has an on/off button and a sound control bar on the back left. It also has an external mic which you can pull it up and down. All of these features make your experience better.
Wireless
Third is that it is wireless. Having a wireless headphone is really beneficial. It doesn’t disturb your arm while playing games or just simply using your computer. It also allows you to move your seat while putting on your headset. You can put the headset on when you have to change your mouse or you have to go get some drink. It uses a USB type connection which is really better than bluetooth because it connects way faster and easier in my opinion. You just have to push the power button when the receiver is plugged to your PC. When you want to charge it, then you can just connect the charging line to the computer or other and connect it right to your headset and use it simultaneously (When it lacks battery, it gives a beep sound and tells you it is almost out of battery.)
Discord certified
Fourth is the Discord certification. Discord is a famous app for gaming. It allows you to use it comfortably while playing games at the same time. A lot of people use it which means if it is certified, then it is pretty good. It also canceled most of the outside noise or other people talking nearby. None of the people said they heard the sound when a loud noise occurs near me and I can hear it very clearly.
disadvantage / bad parts
Next is the disadvantage / bad parts.
Mic quality
First is the mic quality. The headset is Discord certified so people might think it has a good mic. This is completely false. It is only good when you use Discord (Discord somehow makes it sound good and clear). When you record your voice, your voice sounds cramped and not clear. It is only good when you use Discord or do just simple calls.
Size
Second is the size. The fact that it has big fluffy earcups is good but it is still too big. The wearer can feel the heavy weight on their head. It doesn’t weigh a lot but if you put it on for a long time, it hurts your head. It also looks really big on your head and it feels like too much.
Software
Last is the software. It doesn’t have really good software like Logitech. I don’t really care much about headset softwares but it would have been better if you were able to control mic sensitivity or specifical sound settings when playing a typical game.
Summary
Let’s summarize the whole thing. It has a decent sound quality, comfortable for ears, and is wireless. However, the mic quality is bad and the size too big. I personally am satisfied with using this headset as my gaming headset. I used to be a wired earphone user when playing games. However, I changed to this when I changed my pc and I really think it was better to change it. The wireless part was especially beneficial. I recommend this headset for people who need a decent headset for gaming and need a not-so-expensive one.
That was the end of our Razer Nari Essential gaming headset review. This review is based on 7 month(approximately) experience of this headset. I didn’t really notice any uncomfortable parts while I used this headset. If you are planning to buy this headset, then go ahead. However, also consider buying the Razer Nari and Razer Nari Ultimate.
