Hi, this is GENo07 from ITLover0. Today’s post is going to be about Exynos 2100 vs A14 Bionic in-depth analysis. January 12th 2021, Exynos 2100 was announced and the Galaxy S21 was announced on January 14th. September 16th 2020, A14 Bionic was announced with the iPad series and on 2020 October 13th, the iPhone 12 series were announced.

At the very start, the A14 Bionic was issued with heat problems. However, the issue got fixed after iOS updates.

The Exynos 2100 is also being issued with heat problems and they aren’t getting solved. Even if it has been over 7months since it actually came out. One of the likely reasons why it is getting heat up is because of the new mounted ARM core which is the Coretex-X1. You can say that it is the fault of the ARM but Samsung proudly said they contributed in developing this core which we can’t say that Samsung is 100% innocent of this issue.

Anyway, this isn’t this post’s topic. Today’s topic is the Exynos 2100 vs A14 Bionic in-depth analysis. So lets jump right into it then.

Multi-core benchmark

First, let’s take a look at the multi-core benchmark score graphs by geekbench. We benchmarked the Exynos 2100 using Galaxy S21 Ultra and the A14 Bionic using iPhone 12 Pro.

Orange: A14 Bionic, Blue: Exynos 2100

The graphs and the numbers are saying that obviously(?) the A14 Bionic is winning the Exynos 2100. The A14 Bionic has an average of 3872.65 score and the Exynos 2100 has an average of 3030.25 score. The A14 Bionic has about 12.8% higher score than the Exynos 2100.

If you look at the graph, you can notice something strange. The A14 Bionic has a stabilized graph while the Exynos 2100’s graph shows a wavy-like graph. The score goes down at the 13th and goes back up at the 19th.

For more exact comparison, we calculated the variance(!) of it.

The A14 Bionic has a variance of 6259.1275 while the Exynos has a variance of 56453.4875. This is a 801% difference which is a 10 time difference. It means that the A14 Bionic is 9 times stabilized than the Exynos 2100.

Let’s see the single-core score too.

Single-core benchmark

A14 Bionic’s graph is really flat and normal but the Exynos 2100’s graph isn’t. The score goes high up at the 13th and goes back up at the 19th. We can know clearly know that the Exynos is more unstable. The A14 has an average score of 1426.1 but the Exynos 2100 has an average of only 776.32. The A14 is 83% better than the Exynos 2100 according to the graph.

We also calculated the variance of this. The A14 has a variance of 24974.03 and the 2100 has a variance of 45365.28475. The A14 is 83% more stable.

To be honest, play1379, who was supposed to do the benchmarks was not paying attention and started the benchmark a little bit late so the temperature might have cooled down. Well it won’t make a huge difference though so just keep that in mind.

Graphic benchmark

Lastly, let’s compare the graphic scores. We used the 3D Mark Wild Life Stress Test as the benchmarking program.

Let’s first see the Exynos 2100’s scores. The 2100 got a 98.1% in the stability part. I was expecting the stability to be like the CPU and also be unstable but it got a high score which surprised me. For the points, the 2100 got 3303 points as its highest and 3240 as its lowest.

Next is the A14 Bionic. It had a lower stability than the Exynos 2100 which was 68.3%. I really did not expect that to be honest. It might be some sort of bug or it just might be that the iPhone12 we used was bad compared to other devices. For the points, it got 7850 points as highest and 5359 as lowest. The A14 Bionic still won the 2100 in scores.

Let’s wrap the results up. The A14 Bionic had a higher score when it comes to AP and GPU performance. However, the Exynos 2100 got a way higher score in GPU stability than the A14. Well the stability isn’t everything. The A14 Bionic shows a higher performance in almost every thing. If we look at the numbers, we can know that the A14 Bionic is winning by a huge gap.

That is the end of Exynos 2100 vs A14 Bionic in-depth analysis. The results were half expected but in some parts, the results really shocked me. For the S21, we used the Samsung Galaxy To Go service to test it out. Anyway, thank you for reading our long post today and I will see you next time. Bye!
